Description |
Doll Bed. A doll bed with two mattresses made as a replica of an adult bed. The wooden bed (a) has a headboard, footboard, side rails and cross-frame slats. The head and foot boards are made of two posts with a rectangular piece in between. The posts are square with incised vertical lines running along each side. The post is topped by a rounded knob. The cross piece joining each post at the bottom of the head and foodboard has similar incised lines, running horizontally. The side rails are wider at the bottom inside edge, creating a narrow shelf. The nine wooden slats are nailed to the side rail shelf. Two boards have been reattached near the footboard and are closer together. The wood has been painted a dark brown. Two mattresses are part of the doll bed (b,c). b) The mattress is made of blue/white cotton ticking in a thing, rectangular shape. Three sides have been sewn on the inside seam, while the fourth was sewn after the mattress was stuffed (on the right side of cotton). This mattress is stuffed with feathers, probably chicken. c) The mattress is made from a brown/beige striped cotton ticking with one short end made of blue/white striped ticking. The fabric has been made to fit together and is stitched on the bottom. The top side of the fabric is tuffted with yarn. |
