Description |
Cabinet. A large wooden cabinet with hinged lid and interior (23) compartments to hold sewing and textileworking supplies. The front doors open to reveal fourteen drawers and a central niche. Each side has a handle. The surface is gessoed to resemble black laquer (Japanned surface) with a Western influence Oriental scene rendered in a white-plaster like layer. The heavy yellow varnish coating created a gold colour for the design. |
